BOUTWELL'S LANDING CARE CENTER
This landscaping project for the Boutwell’s Landing Care Center is part of a larger senior housing community. During the recent expansion, the new addition created a central courtyard. This courtyard is designed as a strolling garden for the residents and their families to enjoy. The focus of this space is the water feature with its cascading stream and large waterfall that spills over into the lower courtyard. Plantings are designed to reflect the northwood ecosystems found along the nearby St. Croix River. The areas surrounding the building feature extensive landscaping that complements and frames the architecture of the addition. Two raingardens collect and treat the runoff from the parking lot. The addition also features a rooftop garden terrace with a seating area and plantings. The Land F/X software was extremely valuable for its timesaving features with this extensive landscape plan. The plantings include over 150 trees, 900 shrubs, and 2500 perennials and groundcovers that would have required much more time to label and count by hand.
