For this project, the clients’ request for a pool and spa that could be viewed from the rear windows of their home prompted the decision to cut back into the existing slope, and build the pool into the side of the hill. This in turn created space for an outdoor kitchen and covered porch to be located down adjacent to the house for ease of access. The spa at the top of the hill, with a stream and waterfall cascading down into the pool, creates a multi-layer affect while preserving all of the native trees and as much of the natural landscaping as possible. The limestone waterfall and stream blends into the back side of the pool structure which becomes a retaining wall that is veneered with native limestone boulders. In addition, multiple areas for entertaining are spread throughout the yard, widely extending the usable outdoor space for this residence.
